Are You There, Book? It's Me, Reader.

Dear Reader

Happy Monday to my favorite aspiring authors!

I have a confession to make: I've failed you. Don't rush to my defense – I know you love me, but I haven't been doing my job fully.

Recently, I stumbled upon an article by Nicolas Cole, founder of Ship 30 for 30, a course for digital writers and creators. He shared 10 lessons from growing his business to $10 million in four years. Impressive, right? But it was lesson nine that really hit me like a bolt of lightning.

I realized I've been neglecting a crucial element in teaching you about writing a book. Sure, I might have the best techniques for cranking out a book in 90 days or less, but here's the kicker: none of that matters if you don't believe you can do it.

Cole's ninth lesson? Courses should be 50% how-to and 50% belief-building. It reminded me of that timeless quote: "The market for something to believe in is infinite."

Just like Margaret in Judy Blume's "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret," many of us are searching for something to believe in. For Margaret, it was God. For you, it might be the book you dream of writing. Both require a leap of faith.

I was chatting with my client Robyn Engleson yesterday, who just finished her first book. I reminded her to celebrate her success – she's now part of the 2% who actually write a book, not just talk about it. What separates that 2% from the 98%? It's not talent or time – it's belief.

So, I'm turning the question to you: What would it take for you to believe you can write your book? What's holding you back? What's standing in your way?

I have some ideas, but I won't assume. If you want to explore your ability to believe in yourself as an author, click the link below and let's chat. Remember, if you can write an email, you can write a book. It's all about belief.

Are you there, book? It's me, Reader. And I believe in you – do you?

Love Bigger!

Busy entrepreneurs and creators our experts at helping others take action...but seem to always put off what is most important for themselves. Trust me, I get it. I had dreams of writing a book for years until I stumbled my way through writing my first book. After finishing my book I realized that I had developed an excellent strategy for writing a book in a flash. I call it the 90 Day Knockout. Anyway, I believe there are two main things that hold aspiring authors back. A writing ritual and an easy to deploy book framework. I touch on these topics in my weekly newsletter The Write Time, plus many other ideas and inspirations to help you write that first book.
